Trailers of the Week: Insidious, Red Riding Hood, Rubber, Scream 4

by Nicholas Robinson

This week is obviously the week when all of the horror movie people got together and said “Hey guys!  I think it would be cool if we all released new trailers this week!”  and they all agreed.  This week we saw trailers for: Insidious, Red Riding Hood, Rubber and Scream 4.

Insidious

The idea in this movie is very simple and that is the key to making a good horror movie.  Take a simple idea and make it scary.  From this 52 second teaser, I got the idea and scary elements without actually revealing any other plot points or anything really about the movie which is a great quality in a trailer.

Expectation Level: High
What Should You Do? Check it out in theatres.

Red Riding Hood

Here, Hollywood is doing what I tend to like when they do it, which is take an old story and make it darker and turn it into an original movie.  This trailer may not be a great trailer but it gives me a reason to watch it by giving me the suspense it needs to.  Gary Oldman also helps.

Expectation Level: Medium
What Should You Do? Rent it on DVD

Rubber

This movie just looks outright ridiculous.  Not horrible ridiculous, just hilariously ridiculous.  This trailer does a great job at showing the general story without giving anything important away.  It is a great trailer that has me excited.

Expectation Level: High
What Should You Do? Check it out in theatres (if you can)

Scream 4

I never did see the original three Screams but plan to before this comes out in summer.  This trailer does such a good job of selling this movie not only as a sequel… but as a GOOD sequel.

Expectation Level: Medium
What Should You Do? Rent it on DVD/Check it out in theatres (Still haven’t decided)
